Critical AI literacy is an emergent core competency for the 21st century. But unlike other core competencies like critical thinking and writing, faculty and instructors have not been developing AI literacy over the course of their entire academic careers. How can instructors teach and promote AI literacy for students, and also guide their own learning and professional development in this area?
In this workshop, we will review and synthesize familiar tools, such as the AAC&U VALUE rubrics, and emergent frameworks for AI Literacy. Participants will collectively explore different approaches to AI literacy and strategies for implementing these approaches in their teaching. By the end of the workshop, participants participants should feel one step closer to developing and assessing critical AI literacy for their students, and also for themselves.
